What Happened To Gabriel Fernandez Mom In Prison?
Pearl Fernandez filed an appeal on the 1st of April for a judge to review her life sentence in prison. Her plea was rejected. As part of her plea deal she gave up the right to appeal her sentence but she asked for the appeal anyway. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge George Lomeli, who presided over the murder trial said that Pearl Fernandez was “not entitled to resentencing relief.” Deputy Dist. Atty. Jonathan Hatami, who prosecuted the case said, “So clearly Pearl was involved in that child abuse, starving Gabriel, keeping him in the box for eight months, not taking him for medical aid, pepper-spraying him in the face, hitting him with a baseball bat — so many things were brought out in the trial. Evidence-wise, Pearl Fernandez tortured and killed Gabriel.”

Gabriel Fernandez Report
Several persons reported evidence of abuse to social workers with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department during Fernandez's eight-month stay with his mother and Aguirre. Fernandez, on the other hand, was never kicked out of the house. This raised questions about the effectiveness and efficiency of social services in Los Angeles County, leading to the criminal prosecution of four social workers in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Trust the adults in your house, even if it kills you.Their prejudice is more important than your life, apparently.
This child was 8. Were they not old enough to discuss in school the same things that got them killed?

Gabriel Fernandez
On February 20, 2005, Gabriel Daniel Fernandez was born to Arnold Contreras and Pearl Fernandez. Gabriel was given to his great-uncle on his mother's side, Michael Lemos Carranza, and his boyfriend David Martinez, shortly after his birth. They raised Fernandez for another four years. Due to his grandfather's opposition to Carranza and Martinez's same-sex relationship, Gabriel, then four years old, moved in with his grandparents in 2009. He resided with his grandparents until 2012, when his mother, Pearl Fernandez, and her boyfriend, Isauro Aguirre, reclaimed physical custody of him, despite the family's concerns about his well-being.
