Tia Torres is an American television personality best known for the reality television series Pit Bulls and parolees on the Animal Planet network . This animal lover is also the founder of the rescue center of Villalobos.
Biography of Tia Torres
Torres was born into a middle-class family on June 11, 1960, in Southern California, United States. She grew up with her father and stepmother with whom she had an inseparable relationship. While her stepmother was a disciplinarian who trained her as such, Torres recalls her father being softer in his style of upbringing.
Her romance with animals began in childhood. It was by bonding with her mother-in-law that she developed her inexplicable love for animals. From her innocent and common fondness for horses as a little girl, Tia has grown into a fervent animal welfare enthusiast. She started caring for horses and caring for stray cats, wolfdogs and much later in her life made a career out of Pit Bull restoration alongside other animals. According to her, her life so far has been shaped by the compassion and understanding she has received from a large number of animals.
Thanks to the ideology of her mother-in-law, Tia Torres believes that keeping her pet is an honor and a prerogative. As a child, she remembers recognizing their animals as members of their human household, so much so that they received immeasurable attention and care. In his words, “they were treated like royalty.” During the Christmas period, for example, priority was given to animals. Before any consideration for dinners and gifts, the family spent a tremendous amount of time feeding, caring for animals, and cleaning horse stalls.
At the age of seventeen, Torres who believes she has 2 more lifetimes to leave home in search of stray and endangered animals. It was a difficult task as she traveled with her pets. There were days when she had to sleep in her van with them.
Tia Torres became a member of a gang dressed in costumes. With the violent nature of the group, she recalls escaping gunfire on some occasions. After this period of her life, she trained and became a truck driver in the US Army. Six years later, Tia directed her efforts to save not animals but also gangsters and parolees. Having been on the wrong path herself, she began working as a youth gang counselor in Los Angeles.
While visiting an animal shelter in Los Angeles with her daughters, Tia had a fun and fateful experience with Tatanka, a Pit Bull who wouldn’t stop playing with her kids. The dog lover went on and adopted the dog. This experience led to the creation of the Villalobos rescue center for stray and abused dogs.
“Villalobos” is a Spanish word meaning “Village of Wolves”. Picking up on that old love once again, she admits it was a real challenge. Through this establishment, Tia Torres has championed the cause of dog rescue across the United States. She is known to be the most prominent and successful Pit Bull rescuer in the country. Torres also organizes medical services, obedience classes and special seminars for training Pit Bulls.
Fierce and fearless, Torres became a television personality when she ran out of funds to operate her non-profit rescue center. At the time, she had a lot on her plate. Torres struggled to care for over 200 Pit Bulls, feral cats, several other animals, parolees, and mobsters under his care; and of course his own children. After turning down some offers on the big screen, the somewhat unusual personality caved to the idea of having her human and animal rescue mission televised. Tia Torres worked on the adaptation of The Jungle Book called Mowgli’s Story where her expertise was needed in training wolves. Among other films, she also featured as the black cat trainer in the Hollywood film Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
Children, who is the husband?
Tia Torres has 4 children. Two biological daughters, Tania and Mariah, and two adopted twin sons, Kanani and Keli’l Chock.
Tania, the older sister had a tough and troubled childhood. Coming to terms with the deaths of her father, half-brother and godmother was too much of a pill for her to swallow. With the change in the family’s fortunes, her life improved. She now tours the world as an animal trainer, especially for film productions.
Mariah, on the other hand, is the subtle animal lover and public speaker who has also contested in beauty pageantry shows. As a rule, she defends animal rights and preaches against dog fighting. Eventually, she also plans to pursue a career in fashion design and earn a degree in criminal psychology.
Mariah befriends the Chock brothers at school. The boys, Kanani and Keli’l came on weekends to work on the family ranch because they all shared the same love for animals. From there, they became adopted sons of Tia. The two boys who love extreme sports and cycling are exceptional dog trainers and have also become stuntmen.
Tia Torres was reportedly married for three years, but the most recognized is her marriage to Aren Marcus Jackson. Their love story began in the 80s, when they started exchanging letters. Marcus was in jail on criminal charges at the time. After his release in 2006, the two men immediately married. However, Marcus was arraigned again over vehicle theft allegations. Although he is believed to be an aggressor towards Torres, it is also believed that they enjoyed a good relationship despite the barrier. She would also be dedicated to the cause of her release.
