BIOGRAPHY
Robbie Patrick Amell began his career at a very young age. With his sister, he appeared in advertisements from the age of six. During his schooling, he performed in plays, which led him to study acting at university. In 2005, he auditioned for Treize à la Douzaine 2 and thus obtained his first film role. He plays one of the brothers of Taylor Lautner , future werewolf of Twilight , and one of the sons of Eugene Levy, Canadian comedy legend known for his participation in the American Pie saga . Although initially a simple appearance, his character eventually gets a few lines of dialogue, and participates in almost the entire filming of the film.
Graduating in 2006, the young man alternates roles in cinema and television. He signed on to appear in Runaway on the CW. But the series was quickly canceled, only one of the two episodes in which he played was broadcast. From 2006 to 2008, he played Max Miller, a recurring character in Derek , a Disney production. Meanwhile, he is part of the group of students pursued by a machete-wielding killer in the Canadian horror film Left for Dead . A year later, he reunited with Eugene Levy in American Pie: Campus en Folie , which was released directly on video. The same year, he co-starred in Picture This with Ashley Tisdale ( High School Musical ) and Shenae Grimes ( 90210 ). He plays Drew Patterson, the popular boy the heroine is in love with. A type of role that he reprized from 2008 to 2011 in the Nickelodeon sitcom True Jackson . Recurring during the first season, his character Jimmy Madigan becomes regular thereafter.
His physique and talent for comedy make him the ideal actor to play Fred Jones in Scooby-Doo: The Mystery Begins . Released in 2009, the TV film tells the story of the meeting of Fred, Daphné, Véra, Sammy and Scooby-Doo, and how the Scooby-gang was formed. The film having met with some success, a sequel was released the following year, Scooby-Doo and the Lake Monster . In 2011, Amell appeared in How I Met Your Mother , as the boyfriend of Robin ( Cobie Smulders ), an endearingly innocent boy who behaves (literally) like a dog and whose name is…Scooby.
An excellent hockey player and keen on Thai boxing, he uses his physical abilities in more physical and dramatic roles. He thus appears in procedural series such as CSI: Manhattanand Hawaii 5-0 . He plays Charlotte’s ( Christa B. Allen ) boyfriend in the first season of Revenge , a young Ray Archer in Alcatraz , and Eric Kahn in two episodes of Pretty Little Liars . In 2011, he starred alongside Terry O’Quinn ( Lost ) in the pilot for Hallelujah , written by Marc Cherry , the creator of Desperate Housewives . On the big screen, he got a small role in Struck , the first feature film written by Chris Colfer ( Glee ). In 2013, Robbie Amell returned to comedy, first in an episode of Hot in Cleveland , then in 1600 Penn , a series canceled by NBC after a short season. The same year, the public found him on MTV, in the equally brief Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous .
In September of the same year, he played Stephen Jameson, the main character in The Tomorrow People , an American remake of the British series of the same name. Broadcast by the CW on Wednesdays, the show is scheduled to follow Arrow , whose main character, Oliver Queen, is played by Stephen Amell . This one is none other than Robbie’s first cousin. For fans, this evening quickly becomes “Amell Wednesday”.
