BIOGRAPHY
From the age of 13, Rachel McAdams distinguished herself on stage in Shakespeare ‘s plays . She continued her young theatrical career at the University of York then debuted on screen by obtaining a small role in the Disney series The Famous Jett Jackson , in 1998.
It was in 2002, with the comedy My Name is Tanino , that Rachel McAdams begins her film career. An omnipresent comic register in the actress’ career, from the teenage farce The Hot Chick (2002) to Lolita Despite Me (2004), which sees her play a bitch making life difficult for Lindsay Lohan , via Serial noceurs , where she makes party boy Owen Wilson succumb . But it is paradoxically with the drama Never Forget , directed in 2004 by Nick Cassavetes , that she truly reveals herself to the general public. In 2005, she tried her hand at thriller with Red Eye/Under High Pressure , directed by Wes Craven .
After playing in Family Spirit by Thomas Bezucha , Rachel McAdams deserted the film sets for a year, before returning with Married Life by Ira Sachs in 2007. We also find her in the casting ofPassion directed by Brian De Palma and adapted from the film Crime d’amour by Alain Corneau . The actress takes over the role of Christine, previously played by Kristin Scott Thomas , a woman who leads one of her collaborators into a disturbing game of manipulation and seduction. Rachel McAdams begins 2014 with the political thriller A Most Wanted Man , the new adaptation of one of John Le Carré ‘s novels , where she rubs shoulders with Philipp Seymour Hoffman who plays his last leading role. The actress with an angelic face appeared the following year in The Rage in the Stomach , as the wife of boxer Jake Gyllenhaal , then in Welcome Back , Cameron Crowe ‘s new romantic comedy where Bradley Cooper ‘s heart swings between her and Emma Stone . Varying the genres, Rachel McAdams also participates in the film of boxing ( The Rage in the Belly , 2015) to the crazy comedy ( Game Night , 2018), including the journalistic biopic ( Spotlight , 2016) and the super heroic blockbuster ( Doctor Strange , id.).
