Operation Magnus: Drugs, ammunition, a weapon seized in Lidcombe raid

Police have made two arrests, and seized a slew of illicit items like ammunition, a weapon and prohibited drugs while investigating an aggravated break-in from July.

The search was initiated after a three armed men allegedly forced their way into a home on Raymond St West in the western Sydney suburb of Lidcombe on July 19.

Police say shots were fired at the home and allege the three men assaulted and threatened a 31-year-old resident before fleeing the property.

After nearly a month of extensive inquiries, police from the state’s Raptor Sqad executed two search warrants in St Marys and Werrington at about 8.45am on Thursday morning.

They also located a rifle, ammunition, prohibited drugs, cash, drug paraphernalia, and electronic devices.

The items will now undergo forensic testing.

Officers and investigators from Task Force Magnus later arrested two men at a hotel on Scott St in Liverpool.

A 27-year-old was charged with having a fire firearm at a dwelling-house with disregard for safety, and specially aggravated break and enter with the intent to commit a serious indictable offence with a weapon.

He was denied bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court on Friday.

The other man, a 29-year-old was charged with hindering police in the police in execution of duty, and was grants bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on September 6.

Police are set to address media at 1pm on Friday, where they will detail the circumstances surrounding the raids.

Task Force Magnus was launched after a series of public shooting police across Sydney, which police believe are associated with organised crime.
