He followed in the footsteps of his father (Sang Chon) by making a career in the film industry after being inspired early in his childhood by watching his father’s films. His mother, Kyung, is a pianist and housewife.
Chon is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he majored in business administration.
Career
Chon began his acting career in 2005, starring in shows such as Jack & Bobby and Taki & Luci, however, he fell into the limelight in 2006 after appearing in a Disney channel movie Wendy Wu: homecoming warrior where he played the role of Peter Wu, the brother of Wendy Wu who was the main character in the film. The film was such a hit that it garnered over 5.7 million viewers on its first night.
In 2008, he starred in a high school cast of Twiligh as Eric Yorkie, the film was also a smash hit and further boosted his career. He repeated the role in other follow-up Twilight films such as Twilight Saga: New Moon and Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
In 2013, he took the lead role, playing Jeff Chang, in the film 21 and Up. He was also in the independent film Innocent Blood, also in 2013. In 2014, he was a lead character in the crime drama film Revenge of the Green Dragons.
