Iman Asante Shumpert was born on the 26th June 1990, in Berlin, Illinois, USA of African and American ancestry. He is best known as a professional basketball player, who played for the New York Knicks and currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is also recognized as a hip-hop artist. His professional basketball career has been active since 2011.

Iman Shumpert spent his childhood with three brothers in Chicago, the son of Odis, who works as an insurance broker, and L’Tanya, a professor of art and design at Columbia College. Later, he continued to play at Oak Park and River Forest High School, where he excelled and became a first team All-State player.
