BIOGRAPHY
Gina Alexis Rodríguez was born on July 30, 1984, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Daughter of Puerto Rican parents, at the age of seven she was part of a dance and dance group, Fantasía Juvenil , an activity that she continued practicing until she was 17 years old, when she was accepted at Columbia University, in its theater program, being one of the 13 people accepted to the race. Later, Gina entered the Tisch School of Art, having actors William H. Macy and Philip Seymour Hoffman, among others, as teachers. Gina debuted on television, in a small role in the series Law and Order (2004), and later participated in the series 10 things I hate about you (2010), Army Wives (2010), The Mentalis t (2011), The Bold and the Beautiful (2012) . But her great role has been that of Jane Villanueva, in the series Jane The Virgin (2014), where she participated in 71 episodes, for 4 years. For her role, Gina was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Series in 2015. In film, Gina has participated in films such as Enter the Dangerous Mind (2013), Sleeping with the Fishes (2013), Deep Horizon (2016) and Miss Bala (2019), a remake of the Mexican film of the same name directed by Gerardo Naranjo.
