Outside the First Baptist Church of Owasso, two Tulsa Fire ladder trucks displayed an American flag. On the eve of Harrison Moseby’s burial, loving ones walked into a storytelling ceremony inside the church, greeted by images, paintings, flowers, and a bunker coat. “Tonight, our goal is to remember and celebrate,” said Harrison’s older brother, Hayden Moseby. Hayden discussed Harrison’s giving heart by telling an amusing anecdote about how Harrison couldn’t pay his rent one month. “We sat down at the table and got his laptop out and got his bank account and that is the day Harrison learned you can’t pay rent if you tithe 75% of your income,” Hayden went on to say.
Blake Burd, Harrison’s brother-in-law, told a hilarious anecdote about what Harrison wore when he picked up Mallory for their first date. “They were white Wranglers I tell you what,” Burd went on to say. FOX23 also spoke with Harrison’s captain at the fire station about his reaction to nocturnal fire alarms. “Harrison does not get up very quickly in the middle of the night. Harrison enjoys his sleep,” stated his captain. Harrison was also particular about his eating. “It had to be cheese, egg, sausage.” His high school principal, Matt Roberts, even showed up and spoke. “Can’t think of a better respectful ram than Harrison Moseby,” Roberts went on to say. Pastor Chris Wall led the service.
FOX23 spoke with him earlier about why Harrison’s story spread across the country. “People are inspired when they see somebody with an authentic faith and that is what I think makes Harrison’s story so powerful,” Wall went on to say. “A few days ago, Harrison asked me to snap a picture and upload it. He asked me to post something. individuals were commenting, and I got to read from individuals we don’t know, but they said, “I’m following this.” Following Harrison’s death, tributes began pouring in on social media and the Mowery Funeral Service Obituary site.
Two of the tributes came from folks who said they didn’t know Harrison but learned about him via his trip. “He and his wife Mallory are a testament to working as a team,” Christina Rodriguez-Smith wrote on social media. Lori Wallace stated in a post that she prays for Harrison’s strength. According to Pastor Wall, Harrison’s faith will ensure that the far-reaching purpose lives on for years to come. “That’s why when you put his word into practice, it just makes sense and we got to see that and I hope that we learn from that,” Wall went on to say.
