BIOGRAPHY
Don Mancini is an American screenwriter, producer and film director, born on January 25, 1963, in California, United States. He is known for being the creator of the famous horror character Chucky and being in charge of writing all the films in the franchise. In 1980 he entered the University of California, Los Angeles, where he became fascinated by the effect advertising had on the sale of Cabbage Patch Kids among his parents and children. Based on this, Mancini wanted to write a dark satire about how marketing affected children, and his first effort was as co-writer of Child’s Play (1988). This is how the famous character from the bloody movies was born. Later, he became the executive producer of The Bride of Chucky and The Cult of Chucky , debuting as a director in the sequel to the latter part of the franchise. Along with Kevin Williamson and Clive Barker, Mancini is one of the few openly gay writers in the slasher film genre and is recognized for his activism within the LGTBQ+ community. In 2021, he was the creator, writer and director of the television series Chucky that premiered on the USA network in the United States and through STAR+ in Latin America.
