Gameplay Of Castle Crashers
Castle Crashers is a side-scrolling hack-and-slash game with a few RPG features thrown in for good measure. Following character selection, the player chooses a starting stage from an overworld map. After completing a stage, the player can choose to return to it or move on to the next one. The map also shows stores where the player character can use coins earned from vanquished adversaries, bosses, and crates to purchase things and weapons. Unlocking arena stages allows the player character to take on tasks in order to unlock new characters such as the villager.

Castle Crashers allows up to four players to play together locally or online. The player who is further along in the game determines which stages are unlocked, though some levels require all players to have unlocked them before proceeding; however, each player character will gain experience points and acquire wealth, weapons, and animal orbs independently as the rest of the party progresses. The player can employ melee and combo attacks on each stage. Juggling is a tactic in which a player leaps on top of an adversary and performs various combinations on it, such as the lightweight juggle, which can be performed by pressing XXYY on the Xbox controller (or square, square, triangle, triangle on the PlayStation) frequently and quickly. To combat adversaries, each character has a unique magical ability and a life meter that, if depleted by enemy strikes, causes the character to fall in battle. This concludes the stage in single player mode; however, in cooperative multiplayer, other players may try to revive the downed character.
