No contestant died on AGT in 2021. But one of the stuntman contestants was hospitalized due to an on set accident. This resulted in halting the production of the show, but no contestant has ever died on the show. As per sources, during a rehearsal, stunt performer Jonathan Goodwin was sandwiched between two swinging cars that exploded, causing Goodwin to be flown for surgery due to minor injuries. According to sources, "Goodwin was suspended 70 feet in the air in a jacket and was hanging from a wire. Two cars were swung on either side of him and were swinging back-and-forth". The stunt required Goodwin to free himself and land on an air mattress before the cars hit him, but during the rehearsals, the vehicles exploded, making Goodwin fall on the ground. Goodwin escaped with a few injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital. Previously Goodwin performed an escape stunt on America’s Got Talent in 2020, in which he escaped from a contraption before being covered in flames.

In America's Got Talent, if any contestant could not attempt a stunt or failed to complete a stunt or underperformed a stunt, then they would be eliminated from the competition. The contestants performed threatening stunts, which result in minor injuries also.
